Abstract

Turkey, starting from the latest periods of Ottoman State set her direction through the West, and tried to develop political and economic relations with the western countries after the foundation of the republic as well. Turey has great strategic importance with her geographical location, energy resources, climate, diversity of the agricultural products, toruism facilities. This jeostrategic position of Turkey plays important role on our country’s facing several domestic and international crisis and problems. In this study, in general, the concept of crisis has been investigated and the economic, political and social reasons leading the incidents occured among the countries into crisis have been analyzed at international level. Moreover the geographical and strategic position of Turkey have been examined in terms of how this factor effect our economic and political relations with the other countries. The foreign trade between Turkey and Iraq, as one of the strongest trade partners of Turkey, has been scrutinized by mentioning the First Gulf War’s effects on these trade relationship.
