Supplementary and complementary health insurance is a form of private insurance, and it has been used in development countries for a long time. However, this kind of private insurance is not common in Turkey now because it has been applied since 2013. There are two main aims of this study: the first one is to determine the level of patients’ awareness in a private hospital in Nevşehir about supplementary and complementary health insurance. The second is to find out the satisfaction levels of the patients using this private insurance and to determine if there is a difference in their satisfaction levels according to the demographic factors. Data of the study was obtained from patients by face to face questionnaire technique. According to the findings of this study, most of the patients were not aware of this kind of insurance, and the patients who use this insurance were satisfied enough. In addition, no significant difference was found between satisfaction levels according to the demographic factors, except incoming level. We thought that it requires much struggle to increase the awareness of the people about this kind of private insurance in Turkey. Moreover, although the patients are generally satisfied with this health insurance, hospitals need to take some precautions in order to increase their satisfaction levels.
