Abstract

The research question of this study is the analysis of relationships between individual basic values and organizational silence. This study was designed based on Schwartz’s (1992; 1996) theory of value and the organizational silence model of Dyne, Ang and Botero (2003). The research question was determined as “Do the personal basic values explain the organizational silence attitude”. Based on the cause-effect relation, the study was designed in explanatory way. Surveys were used for collecting the data. The sample of this study consists of employees working in call centers operating in Erzincan city. In this study, the analyses were carried out at personal level. In sample constituted by the customer representatives working in call centers, it was concluded that the personal basic values are an important variable explaining the organizational silence attitude. According to the research results, the variable set of personal core values significantly explains the variance in acquiescent silence dimension by 11.7% and the variance in protectionist silence dimension by 15%.
